The former Liverpool manager admits a return to lead Liverpool is theoretically possible.

Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that returning someday is an option. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-year spell featuring a European Cup triumph and ending the club's long wait for three decades, now holds positions overseeing worldwide football for Red Bull and in an advisory capacity for the DFL.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

Liverpool won England's top flight under Arne Slot, but many fans who adore the manager would be thrilled by the possibility of his potential comeback. Speaking candidly, he explained to the podcast host: “I said I will never coach any other side in England. Therefore if then it’s Liverpool...yes. In theory, it could happen.”

“I’m 58, so I could make the decision down the line, it's uncertain. Is a decision required immediately? In that case, I'd stay away. But thank God, no such pressure exists. I'll wait and observe what the future brings.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Questioned regarding the specific conditions must arise to draw him back to management, Klopp admitted he feels no immediate pull to such a return. “I'm not entirely sure, My present work fulfills me,” he said. “No longing for management; I avoid standing under bad weather through long matches; I don’t miss going to interviews four times, three times a week or having 10-12 interviews each week.

“No nostalgia for the changing area in that context, however, dining out alongside the squad enjoying conversation, that’s nice. With many victories so there was often a very good mood around the place. I still have the captain's chuckle ringing in my ears for example.”

Commending Arne Slot

He spoke highly of the current boss, acknowledging his role due to the changes that took the title last term. Liverpool have lost a string of losses in every contest following significant transfers, yet he dismissed the suggestion it could be the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, you will all eat your words with negative comments. An outstanding player. The French striker, superb talent. It’s a really good thoughtfully assembled roster. Fans shouldn't fret regarding the Reds, they'll bounce back.”

Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward

The manager expressed deep feeling about the death of the Portuguese star, whom he brought in while in charge, and the effect at the club. The Portugal international lost his life in a road accident together with his sibling in July.

“Can you substitute somebody like Diogo? It goes beyond his on-field talent, his personality mattered. I can’t imagine the squad without him in it. I still cannot speak properly on this topic. A profound tragedy for his teammates too. Not a single person would cite it to justify results yet it's the reality. Being in that space which he filled completely. Dealing with that emotionally is challenging. Overwhelming.”
