Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was natural for questions to be raised about his position after a further heavy defeat against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in twelve games, representing the team's worst streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got a lot of backing from management,” Slot remarked.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and earn three points obviously but if you are coaching a team and struggling then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my role. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me every single minute each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “In the normal conversations we have I perceive the belief. But I've not talked to them after this defeat yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Problems and Squad Reaction

The manager lamented familiar failings from his Liverpool side in their European loss, namely wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”
