19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.
Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult year, winning just one match at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the American major.
His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in especial - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually separating with former trainer his previous coach.
Currently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, he has steadily improved in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought three-set win over opponent Moutet.
This marks the player's initial championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt after March of 2023.
Success also signifies Medvedev has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one various competitions.
"For the first time I have attended a competition with my children together, so to secure a championship is really nice," said tennis professional the champion.
"This championship is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six title deciders, including in the German tournament in the past months.
His defensive play style and recurring emotional displays on court had prompted observers to question if his ability to compete at the elite level was concluded.
But the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an improved serving game.
He recovered from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five points to take the lead.
Both players exchanged break points in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden professional victory, took control to push for a final set.
Moutet rescued four early break points in a close deciding set before the Russian broke to that score to close out the victory.
Suitably, Medvedev earned the win with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman unable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
