LeBron James to Miss Opening of National Basketball Association Season because of Sciatica.

The Lakers superstar has been ruled out for up to four weeks and is set to miss the start of the league campaign because of sciatic nerve pain, LA Lakers stated.

LeBron James, aged 40, signed a new contract with the Lakers in the month of June and is set to become the initial competitor to compete across 23 separate NBA seasons.

Sciatic nerve issues refers to discomfort in the sciatic nerve that extends through the lower back and into the leg.

The athlete did not participate in preseason and was out for the defeats against the Golden State and the Phoenix recently as a result of the nerve issue.

The veteran is projected to sit out for each of the five of the team's games in the month of October, featuring the season-opener against Golden State.

James, the NBA's all-time leading scorer, has always been present for the beginning of the NBA year in his 22-season tenure.

His tally of 1,562 games played is only 50 away than overtaking former Boston star the legend's all-time record.

The four-time NBA champion featured in seventy of the LA Lakers' 82 games the previous campaign and played on 71 occasions in the prior season.

In the most recent campaign, the player averaged 24.4 points, 8.2 assists and nearly 8 rebounds per game and came in sixth in the Most Valuable Player vote.

The Lakers made it to the playoffs in last season but were defeated in five games against the Timberwolves in the opening round.
