Large-scale Russian Attacks Eliminate Electricity Throughout Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have faced escalating attacks in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Moscow's aerial assaults have led to blackouts in multiple districts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were injured while inhabitants in the city's east were plunged into darkness and dealt with disruption to drinking water, per reports from municipal leaders.

Simultaneously, a minor was killed in a separate aerial attack in the southeastern region in the southeastern part, based on information from area administrators.

Russian forces has increased attacks on electrical systems over recent weeks, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "substantial measures" from partner nations to increase pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not window dressing but firm measures - from the US, European nations and the G7 - in providing defensive weapons and enforcing sanctions," he wrote in a online statement.

Officials stated that 450 drones and several dozen rockets attacked Ukraine's energy infrastructure, characterizing such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Russia was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were striving to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles damaged energy infrastructure and residential structures in the capital.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the strikes on the capital have been taken to hospital, as confirmed by municipal representatives.

Local officials said the metropolitan region experienced intense attacks overnight. A minor died and multiple civilians were hurt.

The strikes succeed nights of aerial attacks in the region, sections of which are currently controlled by Moscow's military.

The entire country is in a state of readiness for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are tougher to identify.

Authorities told reporters that Moscow was purposely seeking to damage the electrical infrastructure, with assaults already affecting gas facilities.

Officials stated energy workers and authorities were bracing for further attacks.
