Former Doctor Faces Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors report that a ex- doctor stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.

The Grave Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – including some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.

A senior prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Investigation

These allegations come after what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

Breakdown of Offences

Prosecutors outline the 45 charges he is charged with:

• Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
• Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
• Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
• Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
• One count of attempted penetrative assault.
