Fast bowler Gus Atkinson Exacerbates England's Injury Worries.

'Significant concern' for England as Atkinson leaves the field due to a hamstring issue.

The pace bowler increased England's injury problems upon exiting the ground during Saturday's play of the fourth Ashes Test against Australia.

Atkinson felt a problem in his left hamstring post-delivery of the fourth over on Saturday.

The England team indicated Atkinson reported "discomfort" and would spend time off the field for further assessment "over the next few hours".

The series decider of the series at the SCG starts this coming Sunday.

England have already lost strike bowlers one seamer due to knee trouble and another paceman to a side strain during this series.

Matthew Fisher was added to the party as injury reinforcement.

His form was underwhelming early in the series, claiming a mere three wickets.

He was omitted from the previous Test, then recalled for the Melbourne Test to fill the void.

Surrey's Atkinson improved at the MCG, claiming a couple of wickets in Australia's first innings, and scoring 28 runs with the bat as one of just three teammates to get into double digits.

Following a brief spell in Australia's second innings, he came back for the second day's play and had nightwatchman Scott Boland caught behind.

However, at the end of his spell, he delivered a variation to Travis Head and immediately felt for his hamstring.

Gus Atkinson was recalled for the Boxing Day Test having missed the Adelaide game.
